ABSTRACT
This study examined the firm attributes and financial reporting quality in Nigeria stock exchange using sample of 30 quoted companies, for 2011. The data were analyzed and result estimated using ordinary least squares (OLS) regression. The result showed that there Is no relationship between profitability and financial reporting quality and that there is no significant relationship exist between chief executive officer duality and financial reporting quality. The lower accounting profits provide motivation for firms to manipulate earnings using abnormal discretionary accruals which reduces financial reporting quality. We recommend that emphasis should placed on qualities by the preparers and those that attest to financial statement. There should be laws enacted to deal with companies which have the potentials to worsen the quality of financial reports. Companies which have tendency to manipulate and tamper with the quality of financial reports, should be sanctioned or made to face one form of punitive measure in other to serve as a deterrent to others.
