  1. Dynamical behaviour of radio refractivity in Akure, Southwestern Nigeria

    Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape et. al.

Abstract Chaos has been investigated in the surface radio refractivity data over Akure, Southwestern Nigeria using the Brock-Dechert-Scheinkmen (BDS) test. The data were obtained from the ERA-Interim reanalysis data for a space of eleven years (January 2004 to December 2014). The computed radio refractivity calculated was then examined for chaos using the BDS statistics. The BDS statistics test can be applied to a series of refractivity values to check whether the refractivity values are independently and identically distributed.

  2. Dynamics of vertical profile of radio refractivity in Akure, South-Western Nigeria

    Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape

Abstract This research investigated fractal and chaotic dynamics in the vertical profile radio refractivity in the atmosphere using Tsallis Entropy, Hurst Exponent and Largest Lyapunov Exponent (LLE). Daily temperature, relative humidity and radio refractivity data obtained from the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Re-Analysis Project at thirty seven (37) different atmospheric pressure level from 1979 - 2014 were used in this study.

  3. FRACTAL AND ENTROPY ANALYSIS OF NIGERIAN ALL SHARE INDEX (ASI) AND GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP)

    Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape

ABSTRACT Nigeria is one of the fastest growing economy in the world. This study aims to investigate the dynamics of two important economic indices in Nigeria – All Share Index (ASI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) using the Hurst and Entropy measures. Data used in this study were obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria for the period 1981 – 2012.

  4. Women in physics in Nigeria: Status, actions, and progress (2011–2014)

Prof. Ibiyinka A. Fuwape, Babatunde Rabiu and Samuel Ogunjo

Abstract In Nigeria the number of women taking up a career in physics is increasing. The progress made by Nigerian women in physics is presented. The Nigerian Women in Physics working group continues to organize activities to encourage more girls and women into physics.
